Message I once had an old 79 Lincoln Mark V that would not start if driven hard on the Interstate or Turnpike here in Florida. Each time I would stop for gas I would have to wait a while and then it would start. The starting problems seemed to be related to the battery that stayed charged but just not enough, I thought, with a few warranty replacements. The car had about 185,000 miles on it. After several battery replacments it finally occured to me that the starter could be shorting or had worn out the brushes or commutator. Upon starter replacement the car started just fine. If your daily driver is an NA the replacement of the starter should only take an hour or so - the turbo model takes a bit longer according to the FAQ and search on this site. The cost for a rebuilt is not too much or perhaps you can find a used one - if that is what is wrong.
